Story
Kolkata, July 16, (Washington Bangla Radio): Debarati Gupta’s debut film ‘Hoi choi’ opened up at Priya Cinema Hall amidst a lot of fanfare as the film has a lineup of some of the most sought after Tollywood actors like Rahul, Priyanka, Vikram, Paoli Dam and Rudraneel.
Two actors Bikram and Rudraneel who have played important roles in the movie are participating in the high profile reality show; The Bengali version of Big Boss due to which they could not attend the premiere as according to the rules of the reality show they cannot get out of the ‘Big Boss house’ until they do not get eliminated or until the game gets over.
But Rahul and Priyanka graced the occasion along with director Debarati Gupta to ensure that the media persons, shutterbugs and the audiences do not miss out on the glamorous aspect of the premiere. Priyanka shared a few experiences of the shooting. She told that though she did not have any previous experiences of doing theatre or play, she was helped a lot by her hubby Rahul, who is also her co-star in the film. “Rahul has guided me a lot throughout the film. He has a long background in theatres and shared his inputs form time to time which helped a lot to execute my role”. When asked about her feelings of having back to back releases as the very last week saw the release of Political Murder, she said that it feels good to have back to back releases and she also feels that the two movies are of two different genres which will not lead to any audience division. A few other stars from the industry including Rimjhim Mitra and upcoming actor Sagar were also present at the venue to brighten up the premiere. Rimjhim appeared in a deep blue western dress while Sagar looked handsome in a white casual shirt.
The screening started with a ‘Hoi Choi’ as the cast and crew marched into the theater hall but soon things turned out to be not as happy for the cast and crew as a rare flaw arose with the screening which predictably happened while converting the
At the interval, the disappointment was clear among the cast and crew, especially on the face of the director. “You must have noticed the frames where some parts of the characters were not visible. This is precisely the fault of the studio where the format was converted. But still as the captain of the ship I take the responsibility of the fault. On behalf of the Team ‘Hoi Choi’ I want to say sorry for that.” said the debutant director to the audience. It was really a very demoralizing incident for a debutant
